Noise making in the classroom is one of the inevitable problems faced by every teacher. In my view, there is no hard and fast way to stop noise making in the classroom because, the solution may differ depending in the kind of students in a particular class. However, I have been able to come up with some strategies or techniques teachers can implore to stop or reduce the level of noise making in their classrooms.

On this note, I enjoin every teacher who is searching for a tentative solution to the problem of noise making in the classroom to read and make good use of the solutions in this article. Meanwhile, if after using any of the solutions here, and it seems it is not solving the problem, you can try another one. Trust me; you will definitely find a perfect solution for your class. How to stop noise makers in the classroom

There are 5 (five) ideal ways to stop noise making in the classroom viz:

Award students who do not contribute to noise making in the classroom:

One of the perfect ways to successfully stop noise making in the classroom is by awarding students who do not always contribute to noise making in the classroom. If you do this, students who make noise in the class always, will reduce or totally stop it; hoping that they will also get their own award for not making noise in the classroom.

This is indeed, the best way to stop noise making in the classroom, as it does not necessarily harm or inflict any pain on the students before they stop making noise. However, it has also been contended that this solution does not work with students who are mature. It is preferable to use this method in the case of children below the age of 15. No doubt, it is one of the tentative ways to stop noise making in the classroom.

Threaten noise makers in the classroom:

This is also a tentative way to stop noise making in the classroom. It is always successful when the teacher knows exactly what will make his/her students afraid. For instance, if a teacher knows that the students in his classroom are afraid of being suspended from school, he can threaten to suspend any student who makes noise in the classroom.

Apparently, this is also one of the perfect was to stop noise making in the classroom. It is tentative whether for young or mature students. But like I said, the teacher has to know what works for his/her classroom. In my school, my lecturer normally threatens to call the parents of any student who makes noise in the classroom or fails to attend classes.

Punish noise makers severely:

Another possible way to stop noise making in the classroom is by punishing noise makers in the classroom. This is one of the oldest ways used by teachers to stop noise making in the classroom. However, this method doesn’t seem to be totally effective today, as many students are no longer afraid of being punished. To some extent It can still help to reduce the rate of noise making in every class.

When used in secondary schools, this method can be very effect. All you have to do as a teacher is to punish those who make noise in the classroom severely. Trust me; after that the rate of noise making in your class will drastically reduce.

Make noise making a criterion for failing:

Indeed, this is also a good and effective way to stop noise making in the classroom. If making noise in the classroom will make a student fail or repeat a particular class, that student will do everything possible to make sure that his/her name does not appear in the list of noise makers. It seems to me that this method is the best way to drastically reduce noise making in the classroom today.

Students are apparently afraid of failing or repeating a class in school. It is thus a good ideal for teachers to use that in other to stop noise making in the classroom. This has been proven to be the most effective solution to noise making in the classroom.

Be persuasive:

My last solution to noise making in the classroom is persuasions. Being persuasive is also very effective but not in all cases. Research has shown that teachers, who persuade students to do a particular thing, are often obeyed by their students. The reason is because, students hate teachers who are very strict and rigid.

So if you have tried all the ways explained above and they did not work for you, then you may want to try this. It is very simple. Just try to make your students love you first, and then learn to persuade and not to command strictly. It might work for you.
