UTME AND DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR ECONOMICS

Below is the Direct Entry (DE) Requirement for Economics in faculty of Arts and Humanities.

  • ND/NCE with upper/merit credit in the relevant programme in addition to five (5) credits passes at SSC at not more than two (2) sittings.

Please note that the UTME/JAMB subject combination above is same for Economics and Development Studies in faculty of Arts/Humanities.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER)

  1. FED-DUTSE accepts
    a) Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Economics and any one(1) of Mathematics, Statistics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Accounting, Business Management, History and Government.
    b) ND credit in the relevant programme in addition to five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes including English Language and Mathematics at not more than two (2) sittings.

UTME REQIUREMENTS FOR ECONOMICS 2020/2021

Below is the UTME Requirement for Economics in faculty of Arts and Humanities

  • Five (5) SSC credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and at least two (2) other relevant subject from Commerce, Government and Accounting.

Please note that the UTME/JAMB subject combination above is same for Economics and Development Studies in faculty of Arts/Humanities.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER)

  1. FUDUTSE accepts any two (2) Arts or Social Science subjects as the fourth(4th) and fifth (5th) subjects.
  2. FUWUKARI accepts five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in Geography, Business Methods and Statistics.
  3. FULOKOJA accepts five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two (2) of Arts or Social Science subjects.

JAMB UTME SUBJECT COMBINATION FOR ECONOMICS 2020/2021

Below is the UTME/JAMB SUBJECT COMBINATION for Economics in faculty of Arts and Humanities.

  • English Language(*), Economics, Mathematics and any of Government, History, Geography, Literature-in-English, French and CRS/IS.

Please note that the UTME/JAMB subject combination above is same for Economics and Development Studies in faculty of Arts/Humanities.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER)

  1. FUDUTSE accepts any Social Science subject as the third (3rd) subject.
  2. FULOKOJA requires Economics, Mathematics and any of Government, History, Geography, Literature in English, French and CRS/IS.

WAEC subject combination (requirements) for Economics

You’re expected to posses a minimum of 5 credits on your WAEC subject combination to study Economics in any universities. These subjects combination are also applicable to all other O’level results such as NECO, NABTEB AND GCE. The WAEC subject combination for Economics should include the following:

  1. English Language
  2. Mathematics
  3. Economics
  4. At least two other relevant courses preferably in Commerce, Government and Accounting subjects
  5. A trade subject

How many years does it takes to Study Economics?

In Nigeria, if you want to study Economics at the university through JAMB UTME, you will study Economics for four(4) years. If you gain admission through direct entry, you would resume in the second academic year which means you will study this course for three years. And of course there is room for more years if you have extension known as carryover courses.
